Our dear neighbors, the Fukuzawa's are moving. At the end of Eamon's piano recital last week, Yoko told me of their plans. Kevin and I were so anxious about breaking the news to the boys. We waited a full day. They were quite upset, however, an hour later both had moved on. Mom and Dad still mope to this day.  We will miss hearing Takumi practicing the piano early in the morning and Hideki's parakeet's singing while he cleans out their cages every weekend. Hopefully, the kids will keep in touch, maybe as modern day pen pals. Good luck, you will be missed.

King Liam

Seems to me he has the weight of the world on his shoulders at times. I wish I could help him find a way not to worry about the future and to slow down, relax. Surely, if I did the same it would bring him some measure of peace. Prayers please. Ease this little soul, bring dreams, banish nightmares.

Beauty From Up Above

What a day to look up! This morning the sky was the most brilliant blue and this evening brought us an amazing rainbow. The kids ran off to find the pot of gold and I haven't heard a peep from them in quite some time. It's crazy quiet around here.

An Eamonism

My sister and I have a running joke. When Eamon comes out with a doozy (as he often does) we call it an "Eamonism". I send her a quick text and she gets an instant lift. Here is a recent gem: The other night I am tucking him in and we are doing our "I-love-you-more-than" ritual when he says to me, "Mom, seriously, I would love you even if you weren't my mommy.  I mean, just look at that face".  Hearts will be broken.

Strawberry Cake

In an attempt to get my two boys to eat more fruit I decided to bake a cake. A strawberry cake. Simple recipe, full of all things they already love (save the strawberries) butter, sugar, and flour...and then more sugar. It turned out to be very tasty and I should know since I ate half of it. Unable to convince them to try just one bite, tonight I'll put a little scoop of ice cream on the plate and see if that sways them. Wish me luck.
You can find the recipe for this strawberry cake on the the SmittenKitchen website.
